Rev. Dr. Vernor R. Clay is an outstanding citizen not only in the city of Titusville, but his community service is also well known throughout the nation. He is the pastor of Antioch Christian Baptist Fellowship Church of Titusville, Florida. He is married to his loving wife Mrs.Sherry L. Clay. They have four adult children. As a mentor, he also enjoys working for the Brevard County Public School system as a Substiute Teacher where he reaches young people from Pre-K-through 12th Grade. He is a native of Saginaw, Michigan and was called and licensed to preach while serving on active duty in the United States Army in 1979 in Germany. He returned home to begin his religious studies at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta Georgia. After completing his undergraduate work from Maryland University and Roger Williams University, Bristol, Rhode Island, Dr. Clay earned his Master's in Divinity and then went on to finish his Doctoral studies in Dayton, Ohio at United Theological Seminary. His passion for community activism and social justice expanded nationally working in civil rights under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Lowery while in Atlanta. In 1994, he left Atlanta to pastor a church in Washington D.C. where he also served as a chaplain at Washington Hospital Center before coming to Titusville. He currently serves on the Board of County Commissioner's Advisory Board, North Brevard Park & Recreation Advisory Board.
